Summer Photo Tours

When all the spring migrant have arrived in June it's time to start breeding. The focus now changes to bringing up to young instead of defending their territory. Still they are singing and calling in the morning but not so active as in spring. Sadly their feathers are getting worn in july but this is the time the first waders start migrating. The Wadden Sea in the northern part and the Delta in the southwest are the places to visit. With the high tide the waders gather in resting sites with countless birds. These numbers attract birds of prey like Peregrine, Hobby, Sparrow Hawk and Marsh Harrier.

Along the coast terns are learning the young to fish before they start their long journey south. Like the terns many more young birds now have to care for their own. Most haven't experienced the presence of humans in an negative way and can be photographed at closer range.
